NOW WHERE HE AT..WHERE HE AT..
THERE HE GO..THERE HE GO..
NOW FREESTYLE..FREESTYLE.
A famous Internet phenomena is the dancing banana. He dances and sings the “Peanut Butter Jelly” song. But I was curious where exactly it came from. The flash video was created by The Buckwheat Boyz who come from Miami. They are a Miami DJ Crew. The voice of the dancing banana is crew member DJ Chipman. DJ Chipman “Ice Cream and Cake”. “Ice Cream and Cake” which was used a commercial used this year for Baskin & Robbins.
ENJOY!
Here is The Big Pink “Dominos” a Switch remix. Switch turned the guitars mostly into fire engine squeals, but kept their vocals to the original formate. He looped decree that “these girls fall like dominos.” The drum machines and riffs were replaced with hard 4AM-in-Barcelona BPMs.According to The Fader website “This remix is like a college thesis on border crossing.”

“Rain Machine” is a provocative and soulful solo project presented by from Tv on the Radio guitarist/songwriter Kyp Malone. His self titled debut album available currently under Anti Records. The sound is like TV on the Radio thrown into “a loose and scuzzed, mystical late-night basement jam. Cool track.”
Out of the 11 tracks of the self-titled album inculding ’Desperate Bitch’ and ‘Love Won’t Save You’ fans of Malone’s will definitely see a new side of him and will love it. “Desperate Bitch” is one of the older songs that make up ‘Rain Machine.’ He wrote this song during one of the first TV on the Radio tours. During this time some of the quotes that stood out to me was:
“It was a time when not having money was affecting my relationships with other people,” ” I was free from responsibilities. I think I wrote that out of frustration.” ”I don’t want to live that way — I don’t think it’s right that people have to pay to be alive.”
He doesn’t see it as being such a departure from the group but in his words:
“For me, I’m not thinking ‘How I can place this in a commercial?’ or ‘Is it going to be too long to play on a talk show?’” He continues on saying, “I don’t mind short songs but I can also be taken by music that lasts an hour. It takes you outside of time, because you’re being transported. It could be too long but for me it’s not.”
Track listing:
1. Intro
2. Give Blood
3. New Last Name
4. Smiling Black Faces
5. Driftwood Heart
6. Hold you Holy
7. Desperate Bitch
8. Love Won’t Save You
9. Free Ride
10. Leave the Lights On
11. Winter Song

While in my journalism class, you can find me catching up on what’s being put on websites in blogs. I should be actually paying attention to class, but I get slightly distracted when there’s a hug MAC desktop on each desk and the professor tends to have side conversations with students half of the class period. I came across an online radio site called Radio 17. Within that I came across 12th Planet and DJ Skeet Skeet’s dubstep/bass radio show. Their radio show is “CHANNEL 3: ROACH COACH RADIO.” Everyone is on the dubstep hype, but I’m not going to hate because I’m just glad that it’s there and people are loving it and eating it up. When I was checking out the radio show, I came across a cookie monster dubstep mix.

Filmmaker Tim Burton reimagines the season’s dark delights in the current issue of Harper’s Bazaar October issue. His photoshoot comes from his inspiration behind his exhibit at New York’s Museum of Modern Art. His artwork will be on display at this museum from November 22nd, 2009 to April 26th, 2010. The exhibit:
“.. consisting of a gallery exhibition and a film series, considers Burton’s career as a director, producer, writer, and concept artist for live-action and animated films, along with his work as a fiction writer, photographer and illustrator. Following the current of his visual imagination from his earliest childhood drawing through his mature work, the exhibition presents artwork generated during the conception and production of his films, and highlights a number of unrealized projects and never-before-seen pieces, as well as student art, his earliest non-professional films, and examples of his work as a storyteller and graphic artist for non-film projects. The opposing themes of adolescence and adulthood, and the elements of sentiment, cynicism, and humor inform his work in a variety of mediums—drawings, paintings, storyboards, digital and moving-image formats, puppets and maquettes, props, costumes, ephemera, sketchbooks, and cartoons. Taking inspiration from sources in pop culture, Burton has reinvented Hollywood genre filmmaking as a spiritual experience, influencing a generation of young artists working in film, video, and graphics. “

Untitled (The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy and Other Stories). 1982–84.
Some of the designers included in the photoshoot are Louis Vuitton, Gucci,Jean Paul Gaultier Atelier, CC Skye and YSL (Yves Saint Laurent)

Photographs by Tim Walker.
I love absolutely every bit of this photoshoot. The lace and length of the dress, the contrast between the set and the subject, the brightness of the hair and how the makeup was put together. It has that “fashionably spooky” look to it. It’s not the typical witch on a broom look, it’s hmmm..its Tim Burton. This says Tim Burton all over it and I appreciate has characterization in his work.

Here is a list of my fave Tim Burton films. If you haven’t seen it, you should check it out:
Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure(1985), Beetlejuice (1988), Edward Scissorhands(1990), Batman Returns (1992), Benny & Joon (1993), The Nightmare Before Christmas(as creator and producer) (1993), Ed Wood (1994), Big Fish (2003)

This edition of HEYGIRLHEY! will be the ladies of HOTTUB!
Here is there story:

“Once upon a time, the Sparkle Motion Machine was orbiting the earth, and in it were the beautiful Co-Co, LoLi Pop, and Ambr33zy. While the three freaks of nature were seducing each other with their stank and sinful vocal harmonies, a space craft from the future called the Bass Station 5000 collided violently into the ladies’ Sparkle Motion Machine. On the control decks of the Bass Station 5000 was super-producer Jay-Sonic and world class gigolo Funky Finger Mark devising their masterplan to rule the universe with the Oakland Bump. The result of this fortunate collision was nothing less than perfect. Ladies and gentlemen, the birth of HOTTUB!”
HOTTUB are 3 lovely ladies who go by Coco Machete, Loli PoP and Ambr33zy aka Amber Griffin-Royal from Oakland, CA. They were established in 2005 by producer Jason Stinnett and vocalist Nicole Feliciano. They are a 5- piece group whose music is an amalgamation of genres such as Dancehall, Punk, and Miami Bass. Their EP
On Blast! is now available on iTunes. It is released under their own independent record label called LeHeat.
I met Ambr33zy at this past BFD music festival in May and she was a super sweet girl and her outfit was off the hook. The following week they had a show at Popscene where RYE RYE was performing there as well. I went with a couple of homies and that show was prettty siiick! I love their energy the deliver to the crowd the most. And they’re wardrobe is always banging as well. Here a couple that I must share with you:

WALLPAPER!

Wallpaper is this dope soul, funk and electro duo (Eric Frederic and Ricky Reed) out of Oakland, CA. They are currently on tour doing record release party but they’ve already put a big thump on the music worlds’ map waay in advance.
Wallpaper first met each other in 2005. Originally it was a project for Frederic to make “artful music while satirizing the lack of genuine sentiment in mainstream pop.” The music was then composed onto computers & then the lyrics were delivered strictly in auto-tune (before T-Pain trashed it up of course.) 4 years later, Wallpaper have definitely began making a name for themselves amongst the youth today. Their album “Doodoo Face” is a huge step forward for the duo. As established by their “live-band remixes” for Passion Pit and Das Racist, Wallpaper became an ace at merging the organic into the electronic. But this time the duo are using paticular instruments like drums, trumpets, and guitars. There are also a lot of influences including P-Funk, Afrobeat, and the panoply of Bay Area rap. Doodoo Face is “dark, nasty, load-bearing booty funk of the Oakland house party variety.”
Wallpaper is definitely a crowd favorite within the Electronica Department at KSJS. We actually have Doodoo Face in rotation. One of the songs that we like and I definitely like is “T-Rex”. Here is the youtube video for it.
ENJOY!
